I heard you can take a gun to the police and they will take it from you with out asking any questions. Has any one else heard this or will they bust you. Does that work for any guns such as full autos? Or are they going to try to arrest me if im only 17? Thanks for any help.Advice on getting rid of a gun?
Clearly wipe the gun of all finger prints.Hide it in a spot that the cops will find, after you call them tell them where it is.By pay phone of course .Get the heck out of the area, when they come to get it. Don't tell your friends or anyone else.
and for goodness sake do not let anyone see you place the gun for the pick up....
trust no one!
how about that a cop Keven, just told you to fib a little not a lie just fib ..
I repeat trust no one.( Kevin is correct on you do not want to have this gun near you as it is a fed law and steep laws are involved) Think....... Keven also states that'; this will be not a no questions asked situation'; That means you will be asked all questions until you go to jail.( If you get caught and have to go to court you just might have to fib ) ( Do Not pursuer yourself in court) (He He)Advice on getting rid of a gun?
DO NOT walk into a police station carrying a weapon, this can get YOU killed. The best bet on getting rid of the weapon is to phone your local PD and set up an appointment for an officer to come over and get it from you at Your House. And don't use the 9-11 number, as seeing you have it up to now I can't see it being a real emergency to dispose of it right that second. If you have ammo for it the Officer will take that also, and contary to popular belief on here, we do not keep them for ourselves.
Phone your PD and make a pick up arrangement.
Some cop shops offer to take guns without any questions. But they usually do it as an anual event type thing. I could be wrong about how and when they do it . But they do do it.
Throw it in the river or ocean, dude! Never trust the pigs!
Depends.
Where did YOU get the GUN?
Unless the Police Department is running a program for gun turn ins this will not be a ';no questions asked'; situation.
Is the truth of this gun's origin so bad that you can't explain it?
One thing you could do is take it to them and tell them you found it. I am not really one to encourage people to lie but if you are unable to tell the truth I would rather you fibbed a little if it put this gun in an evidence room instead of the street.
If it is a full auto then you don't want to be caught possessing it, it is a federal violation.
I also wouldn't suggest that you walk into the police station with this gun either. Maybe you should call them and explain what you have over the phone. Then the officer who comes to you will know what is going on and he won't be surprised (and then YOU won't get surprised).
because of your age there might be a problem. I have heard of what you are talking about but they do it on specified days for the no questions asked turn in you might want to go on line and look up your local police department and see if they have anything to say on the matter if you live in a small town you might want to try a larger town they might have more or better info
I have heard that you can takes guns to the police stations. You could call them and ask questions first before taking it if your worried, but I dont think you will have a problem.
Good question. A lot of police departments have gun turn ins where no questions are asked. These sweeps are geared to rid the streets of guns.
You should be honored for doing the right thing.
Just tell them you found it. You will NOT be busted.
full automatics they probably would arrest you because that means someone modified it and that's illegal, and at 17 definitely suspicious to them
or
disassemble it piece by piece and eat it
No idea. I would guess that they wouldn't charge you with anything for cooperating. If you do get scared and dispose of it yourself disassemble it and throw the pieces in different dumpsters so no kids find an intact gun.
wow never heard that one before sorry but you should look into it
why do you need to get rid of it? if you just dont want it with you and want it gone you could see if you could clean all prints off it and burn it but make sure it wouldnt explode first lol sorry i dont know much about gun disposal
I would watch out. That sounds like one of those things where they will give you a hard time about it even if you did nothing wrong.
Turn it in. Has it been used in the commission of a crime? They'll want to know where it came from, in that case.
they could arest u for having a gun at age 17
Dont do htat!! Go intot he city and sell it. Or go on craiglist. But odnt goto the cops!! WHoever told u that is trying to get your *** in trouble!!
Send it to me, I'll add it to my collection.
