here is some advice, i ran at my high school and also in college. in order to improve your time, try running 7 or 8 miles on mondays and Wednesdays. on tuesdays and thursdays do sprints, 800 would be good. i promise you, your mile time will drop.Coach would like me runnin 5:15 miles or better.Any advice onhow to get faster before season starts in spring?
What mile time are you at now? How old are you?

Goal setting and reaching your set goals is a big part of growing up and being an athlete. However the simple answer to your question is: Practice. You have a whole winter season to build a base. 6-8 miles a day at 7:00 minute pace is pretty much the standard training procedure for highschool athletes. However training can only do so much and different runners respond to different milage in different ways. No matter the weather, go out and run, knee deep snow, slush, whatever, if you want it you will run.

Practice can only take you so far. To drive, motivation, inner athlete within you will be the thing that pushes you that 3rd lap of the mile. You must build and guard this. No amount of training will ';make'; you run a 5:15 or a 4:15 for that matter. You have to mentally ready for the task at hand when it comes to spring.

Remember, running is a learning process. Set your own goals but don't cut yourself short of your true abilities.

As a side note, setting your goal at 5:15 will most likely result in you running a 5:20, set your goal beneath your target time. A 4:00 minute miler does not set his goal at 4:00, we set it at 3:54.
my coach too bro.

Dance Dance Revolution is GREAT endurance trainer. It's as good as cross country. But you need to run in the streets to get better.

Mentality is key and a 10% body fat index is key for long distance runners. my freshman year i did 6 miles a day with training to do 90s.

so now you have to train your body to do 75s. so i guess 6 miles daily with 80s. ask yur coach and keep healthy. NO soda and get 5 fruits and 5 veggies a day.

To get stronger in your mind.. next time you go snowboarding run outside and make a snow angel in yur boxers. it helped me out ahahahaha XD

its normal to get 10 seconds faster in a mile per year with the exeption of boys 15th year where they can improve as much as 40 seconds.. but it's all in the mentality. NO PAIN NO GAIN!!
train during you off season. push yourself and run will help you stay in great shape and eating healthy will help to, be hydrated. breathing out there your nose and pumping your arms will also help.
prattice on ur breathing and pump ur arms and just prattice eeryday..
