Since Bush's dad was president, and he could get special advice, why did he have such a bad presidency?

Because he is an imbecile.Since Bush's dad was president, and he could get special advice, why did he have such a bad presidency?
Because Bush Senior was a rotten President as well. I remember back in 1992 the economy was so bad as well as unemployment. There was a new hotel in Chicago opening with 1,000 jobs. More than 10,000 people came and stood in line to apply. This made world news. Clinton used this as an example of Bush's inability to run the country. I was one of those persons wanting one of the jobs. I got it and worked there for 16 years. Just using this an example showing Bush Juniors failings on this very same issue.Since Bush's dad was president, and he could get special advice, why did he have such a bad presidency?
He had GREAT advisors when he first took office. But when they all resigned, each one said that Bush refuses to listen to anybody. That was Colin Powell's biggest frustration with Bush.

A smart leader surrounds himself with fantastic advisors AND LISTENS TO THEM.

I doubt Bush listened to Big George any more than he listened to anybody else.

And it's a shame, too, 'cause his dad wasn't a half bad President.
Bad Presidency? Says who? He was elected TWICE. He made one serious error when he recommended we remove Hussein from Iraq to help stabilize the oil producing areas. Congress agreed with him and authorized the war. The liberal press along with the Democrats have been working now 7 years to re-write history and say Congress had nothing to do with it. It may now turn out that he won that argument as well because we are now winning in Iraq, even with the press and liberals against it. I don't know how he did it with all the nay Sayers screaming in his ear.

If it were not for the press hating him, he would have had a great ride. History will show he may have made errors, but he at least stuck to his guns and did what he said he was going to do. He certainly did not ';Flip-Flop'; with the polls or pressure from the press. Thank god we had him after 911. I hope to god we don't have a ';flipper'; when the next one comes.
His dad also had a terrible presidency. This is just a repeat double of what Bush senior was like. I think the main problem is that they are so wealthy (from oil) that they simply don't care about the lives of the poor or those in lower social classes. Reagan was the same. ';Anything for profit'; could have been the slogan of all of them.
Because he took what he thought were his father's two biggest ';mistakes'; -- working with Democrats to compromise on legislation, and not trying to take over Iraq -- and did the exact opposite, and both turned out to be disastrous. I usually didn't like the elder Bush, and I still think he was more harmful than helpful, but on those two questions he was right, and the younger Bush has been wrong.
Because he wouldn't listen I suppose. Bush Sr. handled the first Gulf War very well. I don't agree with many aspects of his presidency, but he was an intelligent man who did not flail about aimlessly - he listened to intel and acted accordingly. The first Gulf war had clear objectives and lasted 1 year. Jr's war is going on 5 years now, has done nothing but waste lives and money, and no end in sight.

His father also learned from history - you can't occupy Iraq. I think the British proved that last century very clearly when they did what we are repeating today. Jr don't like book learnin it seems.
In case you did not notice, Bush a much different brand of

Republican than his father. Bush I was almost a caricature

of the upper middle-class WASP, a pursed-lipped, uptight,

irascible, elderly New England moderate, wagging his finger

and nagging people about abortion, school prayer, and good

citizenship. Bush II, on the other hand, was a hard-line

fundamentalist evangelical conservative and Texan, in no

mood for compromise on any policy idea, regardless of its

fruits.
According to psychologists (';Bush on the Couch'; 2003), Li'l Bush hates the old man completely and totally. Li'l Bush was going to do daddy one better and invade Iraq - as he saw his father as cowardly for not doing that back during the Gulf War.

Li'l Bush is a psychopath - the very worst choice which could have ever made. He's a man so entirely incompetent that he can hardly put a sentence together - and he's worse under pressure.

He needs to be tried for war crimes and put in Federal prison.
Because he did NOT listen. DADDY had thought about going on into Baghdad, his advisers advised him against it. All the reasons that had given DADDY were valid. junior wanted to avenge Saddam's threat to kill DADDY, so junior disregarded everyone and went on with his quest for his ';legacy';, well boys %26amp; girls guess what? Daddys advisers were correct, every thing they had said would happen, did in fact happen. DADDY smart....junior DUMB...many died because of his lies.
Bush will go down as one of the greatest President's of all time. Any current President takes his share of hits but history will realize that President Bush contributed greatly to the end of worldwide terrorism and that he was a principal influence for peace in the middle east.
His dad at least tried to move the country forward. George the son was only concerned with having the power of the president contained in the White House, not using it for the benefit of American citizens.
In an interview, Mr. Bush said that he rarely spoke about politics to his dad! I think George Bush has done his best for a good Presidency in the most difficult of times! The best advice is useless if something is going to get in its way!
*bush 43 has a 91 I.Q. .he is a puppet , controlled by a shadow government conspiracy ( probably the tri-lateral commission ) bent on global domination . a 'new world order' novus ordo seclorum . obey .
Advice such as ';Don't try to occupy Iraq';? That's something the elder Bush believed, but apparently the son wasn't paying any attention. Ineffective as I think George HW Bush was, he certainly shines by comparison.
Becasue his dad was also a bad president. so he could only advise on being such.
Because Bush the first wasn't that great either, but his son is twice as bad
I dont think he had a bad presidency.
George H W Bush has an IQ of 89 (80 is borderline mental retardation).
I guess its because he keeps his pants on when he's in the oval office.
';It all depends on what the word is means.';

Now that was a good president?
because his dad was a bad president too!
Cause his dad sucks too!
he doesn't listen very well.
he lacks a brain
In order to answer, you are requiring that we accept your premise that his presidency was bad. Why did he win re-election?
