Does every1 get ';advice'; that isn't really the answer? Y do many assert their opinion as if it's the solution?

Who else is fed up of others who give flawed advice as if it is what they know as fact, when they are quoting mis-concieved ideas, or haven't even read your question properly!?

When you have posted a serious query, you hardly ever get the true answer, just a bunch of senceless quickly typed jargon from people who haven't read your queston properly and just want their two points!

It's such a refreshing change when you come back to your yahoo and see a coherant reply and if it's the true solution it's so pleasant, but it rarely happens...

I once asked about a song and gave the details I knew and I had an answer giving me those very same details!

That's just one example, I'm sure you have more......Does every1 get ';advice'; that isn't really the answer? Y do many assert their opinion as if it's the solution?
there are all types on here. some who are just passing time, others out for points only, the occasional ';funny only'; person, some who just like to spout off their own rhetoric, perhaps one or two secretly looking for weekend dates (inflatable or regular), and yes, some who take it seriously. unfortunately by participating in a public site where you cannot restrict input, you agree to take all types of responses, and have to weed through them yourself. if the person asking the question could cancel the bad answers, causing the bad answer to lose its 2 points, you might see some improvement in the quality of response. meanwhile, get out the hoe...you'll need to keep weeding.Does every1 get ';advice'; that isn't really the answer? Y do many assert their opinion as if it's the solution?
perhaps you can petition yanswers to institute a hoe icon for each answer. if 5 people click it, that answer becomes invalid (i.e. gets weeded out) and the answerer forfeits the points. eventually this would stop the inappropriate point-fishing-only answers.

And sometimes I get someone who takes me to task, using the forum as an opportunity to tell me what a horrible person i am for spending so much time here and not answering the question I have posed
It seems a bit worse right now... I have a theory (that has something to do with school holidays) but I'll spare you all the details!

I will confess that I've done my share of 'goofing off' on this site, but ONLY if it's very obvious that it's a playful question. It's annoying to see the clowns on the serious questions... or like you mentioned- I, too posted a question re a song I didn't know (I'd heard what I thought was ';Do you believe in love everlasting...'; and then in the details section posted more of the words along with who I thought the singer might be) and got all these answers about how much everyone believed in true love... 1 person ended up knowing the song (and reading the question) and got the 10 pts! I will confess to using the thumbs down in situations like this. Otherwise, I'm pretty reluctant to use it... Another time, I answered a question about my ethnic background, got 'thumbs down' and an incorrect answer was picked as best by the asker. Go figure! Guess that just shows that this is not 'Encyclopedia Brittanica' here! So there you have MY input. (I take it all with a grain of salt- and I figure I have to know a bit about the topic before I start believing what someone else has written.)
