Dave can be a bit preachy at times, but his advice is worth wading through.
His first book, The Total Money Makeover, is a good collection of his main financial priciples. Any decent bookstore will have a copy. Or check the library...it's cheaper. As an adult, I have thoroughly messed up my financial matters. Where is the best place to get sound advice?
Dave Ramsey ain't bad. Also look for a credit counseling service in your area that does not charge for their help. They exist in many communities and can do wonders for you IF you are really ready to change your decision-making. Here is a site to start on:

Be very careful about using financial counseling organizations to help you get your finances in order. There are a few good ones but most end up costing you so much you can't get out of debt for paying them. You can do the same things they do without paying a cent.
Make a list of goals you want to achieve in your life - financial such as retiring and buying a house etc - as well as other goals - European vacation, running a marathon, taking classes in art.
Etc.
If you live in UK, your first port of call should be your nearest citizens advice bureau where they have free experienced lawyers, ex bank managers etc. The US probably has something similar.
Then, there are financial companies which can reschedule any loan repayments you may have over a longer time to make them more affordable. They will not charge you any thing as they get commission.
After that, If you still want more specialist advice and can afford to pay around $250 per 1/2 hour, you can go to a financial adviser. You can ask them how much they charge before you go.
Best of all, if you are as pretty as your avatar, find a rich husband and he will pay off everything you owe.
