It is really bad and I'm considering counseling but I probably can't get any until Mon. But I get a call I have been expecting and I pick up and I am a nervous wreck so I spoke a little but then quickly said I had to go, I really want to get over this so I can talk over the phone comfortably.Any advice to get over my phone anxiety?
get caller i.d. that way you will know who it is and can be more prepared.Any advice to get over my phone anxiety?
Practice, call a friend, or family member you know will be patient and understanding. Have phone conversations with them and do it repeatedly. When you are comfortable with that. Start calling business or other unknowns and ask for information. Rehearse if you need to. The more you do it, the more comfortable and confident you will become.
sounds weird but... practice by yourself. go on the internet and find a movie script or something, read it out loud. pretend you're doing it with a friend.
would putting the call on speaker help you,so you could walk around and not be confined sitting holding the phone
good luck hope you get over this
Stop avoiding phone conversations (what you fear). Confrontation is the only way to reduce anxiety about something. Ask people to call you so that you get practice, practice, practice. And take deep breaths before talking on the phone--this always calms.
wen this guy called me that i liked it was wierd for about 3 calls then the forth call we talked for an hour so just practice
before you answer just take a deep breath and then answer.
Remember, the person on the other side cannot see you. It's okay if you stumble for words or if your face turns red. Do not be embarrassed. Breathe deeply and speak slowly.
I have phone anxiety too. I don't talk on the phone much. When I do, I either speak too fast or high-pitched. But I have learned to calm myself down and speak slower and clearer. It helps =)
